Long before MasterChef there was Iron Chef, the original '90s Japanese television cooking show that pitted chefs against each other in the most dramatic of cooking battles.
Now, chef Masaharu Morimoto, the third Iron Chef from the original series and current star of its spinoff show Iron Chef America, will be showcasing his sharp talents at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental's new pop-up restaurant concept from 16-18 January 2012.

Morimoto was due to be drafted as a professional baseball player before an injury changed his fate.
Born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan, Morimoto is best known integrating Western ingredients into traditional Japanese cooking techniques and now manages eight restaurants around the world including the recently opened Morimoto Mexico City.
“I was delighted to discover his exceptional cuisine recently in his Napa restaurant and was wowed by his skill in marrying traditional Japanese techniques with ingredients which are not commonly found in Japanese cooking," said chef Richard Ekkebus of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, who recommends the caviar tempura trio, toro tartare, foie gras trio and saga wagyu.

Enjoy Chef Morimoto's 10-course menu with a live cocktail sushi bar.
Chef Morimoto has prepared an extravagant 10-course dinner with a live cocktail sushi bar and free flow Ruinart Champagne for HK$2,888 per person. For an additional HK$888, enjoy a five-glass pairing of wine and sake from some of the most unique boutique sake wineries in Japan.
