Summer melons at The Chinese Restaurant

Taking advantage of the abundance of juicy summer melons available now the hot weather has fully kicked in, Head Chef Kwai-kai Lo of The Chinese Restaurant has created a variety of refreshing Cantonese melon dishes available from now until the end of August.

Delicate and fresh, the braised prawns taste as good as they look.

Highlights include the braised water gourd with fillet of garoupa and dried scallops (HK$420) and braised prawns with Yunnan ham wrapped in angled loofah (HK$289).

Opening of Harlan's first cake shop

The ONE's Harlan's restaurant and bar just opened their very first cake shop over the weekend. The cafe offers 16 varieties of cake every day out of their overall collection of 40 desserts and pastries.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with Harlan's white pearl-shaped cake.

Among their macaroons, financiers and cookies that are baked daily, check out their more innovative "Prodigy" and "Harlan's only" lines of cake which include a white pearl-shaped cake with Japanese sesame and wild honey and foie gras chocolate tart. 

Harlan's cake shop will also be offering two special Rilakkuma cakes which you can redeem at a special price of HK$19 (instead of HK$45) if you spend HK$300 or more in the ONE mall from 20 July to 2 September 2012. This offer is valid while stocks last.

Crab galore at Café Kool

Exclusively for the month of July, Café Kool's dinner buffet will feature a special selection of crab dishes. Among the usual mud crabs they will also have flower, green and soft shell crabs available.

All of the crab dishes will be made to order at their live station just the way you like it. Choose from Malaysian hot and spicy crab soup, sautéed crab in typhoon shelter style, Vietnamese deep-fried soft shell crab or sautéed crab and stir fried turnip cake with XO sauce in clay pot. 

Their dinner buffets are HK$498 from Monday-Wednesday, HK$528 on Thursday and HK$548 on the weekends.

Lobster afternoon tea set at Lobster Bar and Grill

A staple for most hotel restaurants, Island Shangri-La's Lobster Bar and Grill are introducing a lobster inspired afternoon tea set.

Nothing says the weekend like afternoon tea and a glass of bubbly.

The tea set consists of a platter of rye bread and mascarpone roll with lobster, a barbecued lobster and truffle bun, lobster and avocado sandwich, minature wafer cones filled with lobster tartare and caviar, raspberry marechaux, caramel macaroon and Chef Patissier Alain Guillet's famous dark chocolate Frou Frou cake among other French pastries. 

The lobster afternoon tea set is priced at HK$238 for one, HK$428 for two and HK$778 for two with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot rosé champagne available every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 3pm to 5:30pm.

Sake food pairing at Sushi Dokoro Hikari

Sushi Dokoro Hikari provide some of the freshest and most authentic sushi and seafood around since they fly in ingredients from Japan daily. They are currently offering their premium selection of sake for discounted prices until the end of August.
