Calm down, people, and unshield your eyes. Despite what it sounds like, the "larger-than-life" celebrity chef Harlan Goldstein isn't actually going to strip. In fact, the only "pole dancer" and "dirty mofo" you'll see at his latest venture "Strip House" is probably in the form of a cocktail.
The buzz: With the success of Gold by Harlan Goldstein under his belt, the celebrity chef and entrepreneur returns to his New York roots with a 1940s inspired steakhouse in the middle of Lan Kwai Fong.
The look: Strip House is located on the fifth floor of the Grand Progress Building, featuring a 1,980 square foot (184 square metre) dining room and bar in rich reds, charcoals and silvers that brings back memories of the prohibition-era. Think sexy vintage posters on the walls and tunes by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and sultry "Big Apple" jazz.
Food and drink: As the name suggests, Strip House will serve charcoal-grill specialties such as hearty double-cut, grass-fed Fiorentina rib-eye steaks and juicy organic Japanese pork chops, complemented by sinful sidekicks like "the sickest crab cake on the planet", "my amazing beef tartare" and "kick ass mac and cheese."
Wash everything down with some hand-picked house wines from the Old and New World, or spice things up with erotically named cocktails like the "panty dropper." Still, what turns us on most are Goldstein's desserts, including a Reese's peanut butter cup cheese cake, Bailey's crème brûlée and black Sambuca ice cream.
PR speak: "'Strip House' continues Harlan Goldstein's triumphant return to the centre stage of Hong Kong's dining scene, following the success of flamboyant Gold by Harlan Goldstein in LKF Tower -- quickly established as a fashionable 'place to see and be seen.'"
The official opening date of Strip House is yet to be announced, but one thing's for sure -- you'll see us there.
