Just in time for spring, Hong Kong's Parisian fashion boutique, Rue Madame, held a fashion preview at Opera Gallery last week to showcase their newest French designer brands including Antik Batik, Ba&sh, Brigitte Bardot, Innamorato, Leenoy, Les Petites, Rodier and Cuisine Francaise.
The collections were paired with sci-fi sculptures by Chinese artist Fan Xiaoyan and a series of hyper surrealist virtual animations by Korean artist Kwon Ki Soo, featuring a very happy (and very cute) stick man flying through the air.
We spotted lots of bright colours on the racks like coral, one of the hottest colours this season and plenty of feminine silk tops, dresses and trousers to combat the impending humidity.
If you're not yet acquainted with the French designers at Rue Madame, c'est okay -- here's a quick cheat sheet on five of our faves, including a top pick from each:
1. Ba&sh
Created by childhood friends Barbara Boccara and Sharon Krief, Ba&sh is a typical Parisian brand that's ultra feminine. Their designs, which are light in spirit, but chic, romantic and modern, are now worn by the likes of Alexa Chung, Kylie Minogue and Cameron Diaz.
2. Antik Batik
Antik Batik is a well-known ethnic chic brand inspired by designer Gabrielle Cortese's travels, featuring modern bohemian styles in colourful shades. We love this simple white dress with cut-out detailing that's simple yet sexy and demure.
3. Innamorato
This very "Saint-Germain-des-Pres" brand was created by the designer of Bonpoint, the French fashion and couture house for children. Look to them for elegant, sophisticated pieces that are smart, chic and feminine.
4. Les Petites
A mix of retro, hippy chic and romantic trends, Les Petites has a variety of great dresses that are not only colourful but look great on the body. This dress, for instance, is so easy-to-wear (and comfortable), pretty much anyone can pull it off.
5. Rodier
A company with a history since the 19th century, Rodier is our favourite designer from Rue Madame S/S 2012. We not only love the fine knits that the brand is renowned for, we also can't get enough of their ultra flirty and youthful styles.
