Local fashionistas have been holding their breath for the COS Hong Kong store opening, and the wait will finally be over this Thursday (28 June 2012). At 12pm, the doors to their two-storey, 556 square metre shop on 74 Queen's Road Central will open, literally steps away from their sister shop H&M.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, COS is part of the H&M Group with 46 stores in major European cities. Designed by an in-house team led by stylish Swedes, the brand offers high fashion and quality at prices starting off where H&M's end. Eighty percent of COS' collection is womenswear, but there's also a good-sized selection of menswear and children's wear too.
We had a sneak peek of the COS Hong Kong shop before it opened and was tempted to buy everything, including the new Fall/Winter 2012 collection. Luckily, that won't be hitting stores until around July/August, so we stocked up on plenty of sheer and flowing summer staples instead.
Coming soon, the COS F/W 2012 collection is all about "clean and futuristic lines, layered looks and optimistic colours." Classic pieces from COS have been reinvented and refined into styles of the future, like a collarless woman's coat with a completely clean front, a tunic top with a high V-neck and perfectly pressed straight trousers.
Known for their flattering and trend-setting cuts, COS has moved the seams of some dresses to the back to achieve that flat front, and a mix of structural coats in different materials create a masculine shape.
For men, it's all about 21st century tailoring with clean details and innovative new fabrics. Concealed buttons, path-pockets and flannel fronts create a modernist look, while the absence of belt loops add to the clean effect.
The COS store in Hong Kong adds new items into their collection every week, so make sure you check back regularly to get the first pick.
