New Club: Mella Hong Kong

The latest place to party the night away
Mella Hong Kong is the latest club to open in Lan Kwai Fong.

In Hong Kong, we always want more so it comes as no surprise that new bars and clubs are continuously opening, closing and moving about. Mella Hong Kong, which officially opens this week, is the latest club to join Lan Kwai Fong's busy nightlife scene.

The buzz: Hidden away on Lan Kwai Fong street, Mella is located just around the corner from Marlin, next to Graffiti. The club is positioned as an exclusive members-only venue, and rumour has it that most of the team comes from the recently relocated Privé.

Headed by Mella Hong Kong's general manager Rai Sagar and music director Nick Rai, DJs such as DJ Ulysses, DJ Doze, DJ Kash and DJ Robin will spin the best house and top 40 hits.

Mella boasts a roomy dancefloor (at least for Hong Kong standards) and state of the art DJ equipment.

The look: At the front of the room is the main bar area, which will feature a special polaroid photobooth by the end of this month. With more of a dark colour scheme, Mella's vibrant LED screens and decorative blue lights liven the place up.

At the other end of Mella is a special VIP booth that sits on a raised platform overlooking the surprisingly spacious dance floor. Lined with colourful spotlights that change according to the music, there is also a large TV screen at the other end of the dance floor so you can dance along to Beyonce.

What to drink: Mella Hong Kong is still fine-tuning their drinks menu at the moment, but some of their recommended drinks include their large selection of champagne cocktails and signature mella-tinis.

Looking for a deal? Enjoy half-price cocktails every Tuesday and free drinks for ladies every Thursday night.
