When we think of summer, we think of lounging at the beach with perfectly bronzed skin, a cocktail in one hand and ice cream in the other. Bright colours also come to mind, on everything from our makeup and accessories to our swimsuits and sunnies.
Now that summer's finally here in Hong Kong, there's no better time to break out of your makeup rut and try a fresh new look for the season.
One of our favourite new makeup collections this year is the Dior Croisette summer 2012 makeup collection, which was inspired by the French Riviera (the Croisette is the fabulous boulevard along the coastline of Cannes).
The overall look is fresh, summery, and full of sunshine, featuring shades of sky blue, aquatic turquoise, glossy pinks and sunset orange -- all of which are set against a natural, bronzy tan.
Our must-have product from the collection is the new healthy glow makeup formula called Nude Tan, which adjusts to your own skin tone and the surrounding light to boost your tan even when the sun's long gone.
There's also the Nude Glow Sun Powder, an easy to use bronzer that comes in six different shades (Honey, Amber, Cinnamon, Spicy, Toffee and Sienna). Anytime you need a little colour (and don't we all?), all you've got to do is dust it on over your makeup.
Looks like we aren't the only ones in love with Dior's Croisette summer 2012 makeup collection -- Hong Kong's beauty bloggers also had a chance to experience a Dior beauty makeover at Elements mall recently.
"I really loved the Dior Nude Tan and Radiance Powder bronzer, which helped make my tanned skin look even more tanned," said Meekay of The Fashion Inbox. "My colour specialist applied the bronzer in the shape of a "3" on the side of my face for a more natural, sunkissed look."
Christing C of Fashion Hedonism added, "The new Croisette range by Dior is the perfect palette for sun-kissed skin. I'm partial to bronze tones that suit my everyday look, but the turquoise colours are fun for expermenting on a night out."
Veronica Li of Vnikali.com called the Dior Croisette collection glamourous and flattering, and claimed the turquoise eyeliner as one of her favourite products from the collection.
"The vibrant colours inspire you to dress in chic swimsuits and shimmering outfits during the summer," she said. To match with her turquoise eyeliner, we recommend Dior's Swimming Pool eye colour palette with shades of ultramarine, sky blue, turquoise, pearl grey and bikini pink.
Melinda Wang of Ztylistas.com personally loved the Dior Aurora eye colour palette with the shades of sand, orange, peach and brown.
"The warm colours are perfect for effortless and versatile looks during the summer," she said. "The Dior Croisette products also go on flawlessly and stays amazingly smooth, sheer and comfortable all day long."
For the lips, Hong Kong beauty blogger Bren Lui favourited the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper in light pink.
"It gives your lips a kiss of instant volume and shine without the sometimes-painful sting of other lip plumpers," explained Lui.
"The rich blend of collagen and marine-based fillers smooth and moisturise the skin, leaving the lips gorgeous and voluptuous with a soft, vanilla-mint scent."
After undergoing a Dior makeover herself, Rachel Read of Sassy Hong Kong couldn't help gushing about the Dior Croisette summer 2012 makeup collection.
"I loved Dior's dreamy turquoise eyeliner and juicy coral lip colours -- perfect for beach-chic glamour!" she said. "Pair with your fave summer dress and you're all set for this season."
"Dior is as lavishly couture in their colours as in their runway garments," said Jasmine Webster of DressMe.
"The Dior Croisette makeup collection matches these trending tones of the catwalk, lending every woman the opportunity to be involved with the fabulously lush Dior collections season after season."
