Review: Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality

The secret to a beautiful and brighter complexion
The Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality treatment comes in a set of four masks.

What's the secret to staying young? If you asked celebrity makeup artist Gary Chung (aka. Hong Kong's own Benjamin Button), we're pretty sure he'd say hydration.

Last year, we interviewed Chung on the season's hottest makeup trends and couldn't believe how smooth and wrinkle-free his skin was.

So when we found out that he personally used and recommended the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality treatment, we were curious whether it'd be able to give us the same smooth and glowing skin that he had.

Gary Chung, celebrity makeup artist, recommends the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality Mask.

The Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality treatment calls itself a "super-hydrator that adds and seals in moisture", thanks to a special ingredient called Allantoin, which "plumps the skin and visibly reduces the appearance of dry lines and wrinkles."

All that sounds great, but does the two-phase mask really deliver? After trying out the product ourselves, the answer is a resounding yes.

How it works

Unlike the majority of sheet masks these days, the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality treatment comes in a liquid and powder format that we needed to whip into a soft, pink (and slightly lumpy) mousse.

Apply the pink paste evenly over your skin.

Next, we applied the mask in a thick layer onto our face, avoiding the eyes, lips, brows and hairline. The mask felt slightly cool to the touch, providing a welcome relief from the hot summer heat while we waited 15-20 minutes for it to set.

Once dry, we peeled the mask off starting at the top of the forehead, revealing a dramatically smoother, brightened and virtually pore-free complexion that rivalled Chung's.

The last step was to use a wet cotton ball to wipe away any residual clumps of mask, and to splash our face with cool water for a refreshing finish.

Verdict

The Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality treatment mask might not be the most convenient mask out there (nor is it the most aesthetically pleasing when you have it on), but the extra effort in mixing and application goes a long way in results.

We highly recommend the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality for all skin types that need a generous boost of hydration now and then -- and don't we all?

The Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality is priced at HK$508 for a box of four masks, and from now until 31 July 2012, you can enjoy a discount of up to 22 percent off at the Erno Laszlo store. Find out more from the Erno Laszlo Hong Kong website.
