The Lamborghini Huracán Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder arrives in Hong Kong

If you’ve been jonesing for a top-down cruise to ride out the rest of the hot Hong Kong summer, now’s the time to shop for the latest definitive supercar. Just in time for the peak of summer, the Lamborghini Huracán Spyder has officially landed in Hong Kong last week.

The new Spyder features the classic athletic build and low, sweeping design of the signature marque — with the top down, it’s perfect for the hot Hong Kong summer.

The newest convertible model of the Huracán family, the RWD Spyder shares the same 5.2-litre, naturally aspirated V10, mid-mounted engine as its coupe brothers, but gives owners the option to cruise with the top down. Boasting a whopping 580 horsepower, the new Spyder is sure to be a thrilling ride — sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, and with a top speed of 319 km/h.

You can effortlessly achieve that adrenaline rush on the road, with the car boasting 540 N.m (newton-meter) of torque when the engine revs at 6,500rpm, with 75% of torque already available once it hits the pleasant hum of 1,000rpm.

And if it’s the hum of the engine you’re after, the soft-top design has also catered to petrolheads with such needs. Turbulence is reduced with an integrated duct, and the controllable rear windshield allows you to appreciate the Spyder’s purr as you’re zipping down the highway.

The lightweight soft-top, shown here in a gorgeous red, can open and close in just 17 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h, stowing efficiently and gracefully to maintain the centre of gravity. With the roof down, you’ll find two contoured fins, accentuating the dynamic lines of the open appearance, and adding extra muscle to the rear of the car.

The low, stealthy design of the new Spyder retains Italian taste and powerful athleticism. It features a redesigned front and rear, particularly featuring large front air intakes that direct cooling air and headwind to increase down pressure on the front axle. Deep within the vehicle and its hybrid aluminium and carbon fibre chassis, new features include contoured steel brakes with improved cooling, and together with aluminium brake disc pots, help to reduce weight. With tall Pirelli PZero tires — developed specifically for the RWD Spyder — you’ll be sitting pretty on 19” Kari rims. You can start personalising your own Spyder here.

Seats here are in black, featuring red contrast stitching for an athletic and sexy interior.

Inside, it’s spacious, sporty, with the latest Lamborghini Infotainment System II with a 12.3” hi-res instrument dash. It also incorporates the exclusive ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) tech, which gives you different driving modes, from STRADA for everyday driving to the race-car-like capabilities of CORSA. The new Spyder will also feel more centred, featuring the Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) — which is the Huaracán’s sensor system — placed where the centre of gravity is in the vehicle. And with additional options, you can trace all 3D movements and information back to you in real time for finer steering, stability, traction and shock absorption without holding back the rear-wheel drive experience.

The starting price of the new Spyder is at HK$3,980,000 including tax, which forms the middle ground between the two- and four-wheel drive coupe models, completing the Huracán family… for now at least.
