The Dior Autumn/ Winter 2017-2018 Ready-to-Wear show recently concluded in Paris, and we have the exclusive privilege of showing you the backstage images here first. The collection is centred on the colour of navy blue, which Christian Dior himself deems as the only hue that can ever compete with black. Symbolising “power, beauty and spirituality”, blue is incorporated into fascinating designs fashioned in opulent velvet and dégradé tulle.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, artistic director of the Dior’s women’s collections fearlessly reinterprets the hooded Chevrier outfit from the Haute Couture Autumn/ Winter 1949 collection through a series of jackets, skirts, dresses, capes, coats and small bomber jackets. She also puts a modern and sporty spin on the original hood design, using materials such as taffeta and velvet with herringbone motifs and knit details.
