Sweet as sugar: Swarovski smartphones for women

Updated on February 19 2014

Let’s face it, most women favour the iPhone or Samsung over any other in the market. Even though high-end brands have started to turn towards more feminine designs to appeal to the ladies — we’re proving to be hard to impress (well, no surprise there).

The latest to join the ranks is French accessory brand Sugar who have just launched their Swarovski gem-studded smartphone in Hong Kong.

Dressed up as jewellery, the phone is lined with 129 pieces of shimmering Swarovski gemstones that make up a total of 5.16 carats. Available in pink and white, the back of the Sugar smartphone reflects a romantic star-studded night.

The Sugar Swarovski smartphone features a “mirror of the sky” concept.

If you’re a simple gal who doesn’t like too much bling on her phone, this could be the right fit for you but we can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu (Samsung Galaxy anyone?). Unlike the latest Vertu Constellation and brand new Geneva brand Savelli, the Sugar smartphone hasn’t offered anything groundbreaking in terms of design.

The Sugar smartphone runs on the Android 4.2 system.

Looks aside, the specs are pretty decent with a 5-inch full HD screen backed up by a quad-core MediaTek chip, two gigabytes of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3 megapixel front shooter and either 16 or 32 gigabytes of storage. The phone even has a one-key beautification tool that will instantly improve all your selfies.

Priced at HK$4,880, every Sugar smartphone comes with a special Swarovski Pure Brilliance earrings and necklace gift set (worth HK$1,688) for a limited time only.
